From rags to riches... and back again.

An avid Charles Dickens fan, Armando Iannucci (award-winning writer/director of The Thick of It, In the Loop, Veep and The Death of Stalin) adapts the author's classic 1850 novel David Copperfield into THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD. Alongside frequent collaborator Simon Blackwell, Ianucci employs his comedic mastery and vivid characterisations to bring to life one of Dickens's most cherished characters.

From birth to infancy, adolescence to adulthood, the good-hearted David Copperfield is surrounded by kindness, wickedness, poverty and wealth as he meets an array of remarkable characters in Victorian England. David sets out to be a writer, and it's in his quest for family, friendship, romance and status that he realises the story of his life is the most seductive tale of all.

The film stars Dev Patel in the title role alongside a wealth of British talent including Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw and Paul Whitehouse.
