The Story

Inspired by the viral video and unforgettable catchphrase that swept across Southern Africa in 2019, My F*K, Marelize! is a touching coming-of-age comedy-drama set in Windhoek, Namibia.

Marelize dreams of becoming an au pair in the Netherlands, but first she must overcome one major obstacle — learning to ride a bicycle. As she struggles through a series of chaotic and hilarious mishaps, her strong-willed mother Heidi pushes her forward with equal parts tough love and humour. Unknown to the family, however, Heidi is secretly battling a life-changing cancer diagnosis.

Blending warmth, comedy and emotional honesty, the film explores family bonds, resilience and finding laughter through life’s most difficult moments.

A major local box office success, the film became the highest-grossing Afrikaans film since 2014 and won multiple audience and acting awards at the kykNET Silwerskerm Festival.
