JIFF: The Twelve Chairs (1970)

The Twelve Chairs

This criminally underseen adaptation of Ilf and Petrov classic picaresque novel follows three men searching across Russia for a treasure of jewels hidden inside a dining chair. Starring Frank Langella, it is remarkable not only for its incredibly cinematic physical comedy, but also for the quality and assuredness of Mel Brooks direction.
