“Let the Right One In has invention and stamina, a rich arterial flow of fear.” – Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

Tomas Alfredson’s Let the Right One In is a grisly and sincere exploration of the limits of friendship, family and love through the lens of occult vampiric lore.

The film follows two young lovers, each isolated in their own way. 12-year-old Oskar is a social outcast and victim of sadistic bullying, living in a bleak Stockholm suburb with his distant divorcée mother, while his new neighbour Eli (who has “been 12 for a very long time”) is fundamentally isolated by her monstrous nature. Despite this, the two form a tender, intimate bond only for this blossoming relationship to be threatened by a string of bloody local murders.

Consistently regarded as one of the best vampire films of all time since its release, Let the Right One In’s quiet and meticulous approach to vampire mythology, along with its captivating child performances and hauntingly beautiful score renders the film an entirely unique and tender existential coming-of-age story.
