La Bola Negra – 35mm Season

In an Australian exclusive, we are excited to present the sweeping historical drama La Bola Negra in 35mm at the Ritz from Thursday 22 October.

Winner of the Best Director award at Cannes and the prestigious TIFF People's Choice Award, La Bola Negra is an ambitious homage to Federico García Lorca's unfinished play of the same name, set across three timelines — Republican Spain in 1932, the Civil War in 1937, and contemporary Spain in 2017.

Filled with extraordinary performances and an ensemble cast featuring Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close and Julio Torres in supporting roles, this delicate and emotionally resonant drama presents a dialogue between past and present about the traces of queer life set against a backdrop of national and personal turmoil.

See it in dreamy 35mm from Thursday 22 October. Only at the Ritz.
